Town hall

The building from the late 14th century with a market hall consists of four wings changed many times over the centuries until its present appearance with a neo-Gothic front of the northern wing from 1904. The construction of the 75-metre-high tower was completed in 1607. St Jerome's Chapel has a precious late-Gothic oriel window. On the eastern side of the town hall there is a unique Renaissance portal with a two-armed staircase and a valuable Renaissance loggia (1591). The present astronomical clock (1955) with ornamentation by Karel Svolinske replaced the original astronomical clock from 1500,and is the second oldest in our country after Prague.

Holly Hill near Olomouc

pilgrimage Church of Visitation of Virgin Mary on the St Hill. A monumental Baroque church was built after the design of G.P. Tencalla in 1669 - 1679. The complex was completed after the project of D. Martinelli in 1714 - 1721. The rich sculptural ornamentation is the work of J. Winterhalter, J.A. Heinz and M. Zirner.

St. Wenceslas Cathedral

The Metropolitan Church of St Wenceslas is a neo-Gothic work of the architect Gustav Meretta (1883 - 1892). The original unfinished Romanesque basilica was consecrated by the Olomouc Bishop Jindrich Zdik in 1131. Inside there is the Renaissance St Stanislas chapel with the bronze tombstone of Bishop Mark Kuen (died 1565) and the marble tombstone of the last members of the Pyemysl Dynasty of Olomouc, frescoes by J.K. Handke and Baroque choir stalls. The Baroque Loreto Chapel dates from the mid-17th century and there is a late Gothic relief of Virgin Mary the Protectress on the altar. The Stations of the Cross by Karel Stadnik dates from 1975, and the organ from 1886. The crypt under the presbytery was completed in 1661.
